SDG 5 - Gender Equality

IMG_3970.jpeg

Gender equality emphasizes the protection of rights for all individuals to participate equally in political, economic, cultural, and social development, while acknowledging gender differences. Our society has achieved some progress in terms of gender equality, and more and more women are gradually reclaiming their rights. At the same time, women's rights are facing unprecedented challenges, as the citizen space is constantly shrinking and the funds for gender equality initiatives are continuously decreasing.

These all threaten the hard-won achievements. If the current trend continues, by 2030 there will still be 351 million women and girls in extreme poverty worldwide. The fatal threats caused by conflicts are increasing. Currently, 676 million women and girlsare living under the threat of deadly conflicts—the highest on record since the 1990s. In 2024, there will be 64 million more adult women than men facing moderate or severe food insecurity. Data indicate that the global gender equality process is reversing, but it also points out that continuous investment and the consolidation of political will can reverse this trend.
